David P. Miranda, Esq. Elected President of the Albany County Bar Association
ALBANY, NY— Heslin Rothenberg Farley & Mesiti P.C. is pleased to announce that David P. Miranda has been elected President of the Albany County Bar Association for the year 2009. Mr. Miranda is a Partner with the Albany based law firm, the largest in upstate New York dedicated exclusively to Intellectual Property Law.
Mr. Miranda was publicly inducted as President on February 19, 2009 at the Association’s 109th Annual Dinner honoring the New York State Court of Appeals. More than 300 attorneys attended the dinner and the featured speaker was Hon. Jonathan Lippman, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. Established in 1900 the Albany County Bar Association is one of the largest and most active bar associations in upstate New York.
Mr. Miranda was formally sworn in as President on January 12, 2009 at the New York Court of Appeals in Albany. Mr. Miranda stated “In the year ahead we shall continue to focus on programs where our Association is uniquely situated to provide a positive impact. We shall use the strength of our Association to shine a light on issues of import to the legal community. Most importantly, we will focus on facilitating the wonderful professional collegiality among both the bench and bar of Albany County.”
A practicing attorney for over 20 years, Mr. Miranda’s intellectual property litigation practice includes trademark, copyright, trade secret, false advertising, and patent infringement, as well as licensing, and internet related issues. Mr. Miranda also serves as an Arbitrator of intellectual property disputes for the National Arbitration Forum. He has served in the House of Delegates for the ABA and NYSBA, and is a member of the NYSBA’s Executive Committee. In 2002, Mr. Miranda was appointed by Hon. Judith Kaye, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals, to the statewide “Commission on Public Access to Court Records.” He is a recipient of the Capital District Business Review’s “40 Under Forty” award for community service and professional achievement. Mr. Miranda received his Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School.
