Associate Joseph T. Schuler Attends NDNY FCBA Trial Advocacy Program

Joseph T. Schuler, Esq.
Associate

We are proud to announce that one of our firm’s young attorneys, Joseph Schuler, was one of only twelve applicants selected to participate in the NDNY FCBA Trial Advocacy Program this past Summer, an intensive training initiative conducted by the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association in collaboration with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York.

The program was created to address the need for attorneys who can competently handle federal litigation and to provide valuable courtroom experience for young litigators. Over multiple CLE sessions, participants engaged in in-depth workshops and seminars covering many facets of trial practice: developing case themes, presenting opening, and closing statements, mastering direct and cross-examination, and managing exhibits and evidentiary issues. Instruction was provided by federal judges and experienced trial attorneys, and coursework included mock trials and rigorous review by seasoned federal litigators designed to sharpen real-world courtroom advocacy.

An integral part of the program was a commitment to pro bono service. Graduates agreed to accept appointments in trial-ready federal civil cases—many representing individuals with limited access to legal representation. This public service component not only enhances practical skills but contributes to bridging the justice gap within the Northern District of New York.

Through the NDNY FCBA Trial Advocacy Program, attorney Schuler built advanced trial skills, forged valuable professional relationships, and will make an immediate, meaningful impact through direct representation in federal court. We congratulate him for his dedication to professional excellence and service to the community.
