Brett Hutton is a partner in the Albany office. He has extensive experience handling all aspects of intellectual property, including litigation, prosecution and licensing.
Brett’s practice focuses primarily on patent, copyright and trademark litigation, as well as patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, with technical experience in the areas of mechanical and medical products and technology. Brett also has extensive experience litigating and prosecuting designs for lighting, furniture and the medical products industry.
Brett graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, magna cum laude, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and from the State University of New York, University at Buffalo, School of Law, with his law degree. Prior to joining the firm, Brett worked with the intellectual property law firm Morgan & Finnegan, LLP in New York City.
Brett is very active in the local community, having served on boards of directors for several non-for profit organizations. Currently, he serves as the Secretary of the Rensselaer Newman Foundation and on the Judicial Qualifications Committee for the Albany County Bar Association. Brett is a recipient of The Capital District’s Business Review’s 2010 “40 Under Forty” award, which recognizes the brightest up-and-coming young members of the Capital Region business community. During his free time, Brett enjoys spending time with and coaching various sports for his three children and playing golf and basketball. Having grown up in Orchard Park, New York, Brett is an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
