Brian concentrates his practice in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Nanotech, and Medical Products & Technology practice groups at HRFM. Brian’s experience includes drafting and prosecuting both U.S. and foreign patent applications; drafting patentability, noninfringement, and invalidity legal opinions; conducting patent landscape analyses; filing and prosecuting trademark applications; providing litigation support; and general patent and trademark counseling for clients.
Before attending law school, Brian graduated with a B.S. in Cellular Biochemistry from SUNY Plattsburgh, where he received a Scholarship for Excellence in Biology and the Chancellor’s Award for Academic excellence. Brian subsequently obtained his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University for his research in the areas of neuroscience, molecular biology and toxicology. Brian has authored several peer-reviewed publications as a result of this work, and was awarded the Life Sciences Consortium Fellowship.
Brian also completed his M.B.A. at Penn State, and won a Central Pennsylvania wide business plan competition. After attending Penn State and before law school, Brian worked as a stock analyst covering the life sciences sector at an institutional investment firm outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During law school, Brian was the Managing Editor for Lead Articles for the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology, published papers in the area of biotethics and the use of neuroimaging technology in the courtroom, and graduated magna cum laude from Albany Law School.
Brian is admitted to the bars of New York State, the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Court and is registered to practice as a Patent Attorney before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Email:
